Ukraine: Poroshenko’s protégé is promoted to head of the State Bureau of Investigation

MONREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, May 15, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Ukraine: Poroshenko’s protégé is promoted to head of the State Bureau of Investigation

There is a fierce war for the post of head of the new law enforcement agency in Ukraine - the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). As provided by the Ukrainian law on the SBI, the body shall receive unprecedented powers including monitoring the activities of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, judges, military personnel and other top-ranking officials of the country. In other words, a power monster vested with wide-powers and capable of elevating its protector to the rank of untouchables is being created in Ukraine. There are several political groups fighting for the main power post of the country. However, the administrative advantage still remains for the President of the country, Petro Poroshenko, who is intended to advance his current assistant Alexei Goraschenkov to this post. Despite the management reserves, nobody presses on Goraschenkov’s being approved to the position by reason of the following: He is not experienced in working in law enforcement agencies. And this means that a power monster may find itself in the hands of a layman and lead to unexpected consequences for the belligerent country. He concealed his property from the declaration, in particular, the connection with one of the country's main oligarchs, Rinat Akhmetov, through the possession of securities of his metallurgical plant “Zaporizhstal”, which may become the basis for carrying out an investigation by existing anti-corruption bodies. As a result, this investigation may cause conflict and a war between the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau), the NAK (National Anti-Terrorism Committee) and the SBI, which also does not fit into the concept of resolving the political situation. Alexey Gorashchenkov deceived the competitive commission of the SBI indicating that he had previously worked as an attorney. In fact, as Goraschenkov says himself in an interview with journalists, he had never worked as a lawyer and received a certificate while being in the civil service. Goraschenkov could not explain the origin of about 70 thousand US dollars in his declaration and deceived again the competitive commission of the bank, stating that he had got this money from selling the property. Later, in an interview with journalists, he changed the "testimony", trying to convince that he had managed to save money while being in the civil service. The most important fact is that Goraschenkov was involved in a scandal with the sale of military property to Russians. In particular, the legal company owned by his family was the main link in the chain of illegal sale of the property complex of the military base in the center of the capital to the Russian group of businessmen. The blunder in the personnel policy made by the President has led to the fact that the main investigative body of the country is not likely to function. After all, the appointment of such an odious personality to the post of head of the SBI is fraught with political scandals not only inside the country where political tension is increasing but also beyond its borders. Not knowing how to proceed, the competitive commission of the SBI laid the issue on the table. The Presidential Administration urgently seeks a different candidate and the possibility of re-election of the main contestants. It is very important for President Poroshenko to enlist the support of a super -organization before the NABU which declared war to the "cashiers" of the country's main political parties assaults his entourage.
