Foreign minister deems positive country's mandate in ICGLR
This stance was defended last Wednesday in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, by the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Manuel Augusto, on a brief interview to journalists, reads a note from that governmental department.
The note underlines that Manuel Augusto reminded that the Great Lakes area has been on the international spotlight, unfortunately for negative reasons, in view of the quantity of conflicts hitting the said region.
He explained that in four years of mandate, Angola took responsibility of a political platform that was created to find long lasting solutions to the recurring political and security crises in the ICGLR.
According to the Foreign minister, in comparison to four years ago, however, there has been progress.
“We need to admit that certain things that happened we were not expecting them, such as in South Sudan, where there is a violent war going on, a country that has few years of independence, but has been facing one of the biggest humanitarian crises ever seen on the continent”, he emphasised.
The Seventh Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the ICGLR is set to kick off this Thursday in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, is already in Brazzaville to attend the referred Summit.
