Homage has been paid to the overlord.

And in three years Trump will be seeking asylum in Russia. Between Xi and Putin this week, Trump is in deep man-love-envy for his favorite dictators.

Did Trumpy call Putin to say congrats on your erection OPPPS election

Did Trump apologize for all the talk of Russian meddling in the US? Because what's wrong with having a good relationship with Russia?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Even though America hates Russia, both are democracies so it is right he called.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Ah, the hypocrisy. . . .

Um, McCain is a Republican, not a Democrat.

Putin orchestrated a terrorist attack on an American ally in peace time using a WMD. And Trump couldn't be bothered to have mentioned it.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Well, he did help secure, and now controls Trump's position, and the US in general, so of COURSE Trump called up right away to congratulate him and ask if he can further help Trump do the same here. Clearly Trump is incredibly fond of and envious of Putin, and his defenders are so far up his butt they see it through the same eyes -- the same people who claim to know what socialism is and complain the Democrats want a socialist system with dictatorial leaders, etc.

"We don't get to dictate how other countries operate," Sanders said.

Lol. Since when? Hasn’t ‘dictating to other countries’ been the basis of American foreign policy for at least the last 50 years?

It is a polite thing to do, call someone freshly elected after a "win", especially to any of the other 50 largest counties in the world.

Just ask "Dear Abby".

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Disgraceful, yes. Surprising, no. Hats off to Republican Sen. John McCain, one of the few Republicans who isn't afraid to call a spade a spade. Unfortunately, he's old and battling cancer. His moral compass will be missed when he's no longer around.

How any American citizen can support Trump's congratulatory phone call to Putin needs to have their head examined.

Strange days indeed.

the school shooting was stopped by an armed guard

What? No it wasn’t. Two kids were shot at school.

Calling world leaders after an election is the norm.

@Blacklabel

The major difference being the timing. With Putin's probably orders for assassinations of UK citizens with chemical weapons, Russia's meddling in Syria and Ukraine, Russia's annexation of Crimea not to mention Russian meddling in the U.S. 2016 presidential elections. Even if what you're saying is true, it's all apples and oranges at this point.

Trump is a Putin lapdog.

Little Big Man-in-Chief trying to cozy up to Alpha Male Putin again.

Weak and disgusting.

Just love how everytime an article headline is about “GOP senators criticizing trump” I always find out it’s just McCain or Flake with Graham there time to time.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Are you trying to claim they aren’t GOP senators?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Or just that they don’t matter since they don’t practice blind allegiance to Dear Leader?

Which makes the headline correct.

Which makes the headline correct.

Indeedy.

The real fun will start in 2020 (if Trump survives that long). The few sane Republicans left will be mounting a primary challenge as saviours of the insane party.

Creepy Ted Cruz running at the opposite end of the spectrum as the saviour of the pre-Trump insane party.

It's going to be harder for the Russian government scum to meddle in light of the recent news.

Grab a beer and watch the show unfold...

Trump has a serious problem with admiration for dictators, corrupt thugs, and regimes.

"Xi, congrats on doing away with term limits!  Just kidding..."(or was he?)

"Putin, congrats on winning your highly suspicious rigged vote with little to no competition you manipulated!"

"That Kim guy sure knows how to run a country!   The people love him!".

Yeah, this man wants to be able to rule the US just like the above "leaders". He is a narcissistic egotistical maniac, so it would be his dream come true.

McCain, Flake and McConnell all have one thing in common: They have never been elected U.S. President and therefore were never required to call other world leaders to congratulate them on an election "victory" based on an old-time tradition called diplomacy.

Bravo, PDJT, the greatest president in the 21st century, for exhibiting true statesmanship. . . .

Oh, so now tradition and diplomacy are justifications for whether Trump does something. Glad to know the goalposts are so easily moveable. Kuddos! ROFL!

President Trump was not the only person in power who congratulated Putin.

A number of world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, contacted Putin to offer their congratulations.

According to liberal logic, Putin must have something on those politicians, too. . . .

Apparently you’re not so good with the logic. We aren’t saying that calling Putin is the determining factor on whether or not someone is in Putin’s undies... I mean pocket, we’re saying that Trump is in Putin’s pocket, and therefore his calling Putin to congratulate was a requirement. Bosses hate it when you don’t pay fealty.

"Liberal logic"? What's that? Perhaps you meant to say, "feelings" or "emotions"?

As required, Trump does, or doesn't, do something, and the usual suspects run around the internet complaining about him. SSDD.

President Trump was not the only person in power who congratulated Putin.

We know this.

According to liberal logic, Putin must have something on those politicians, too. .

According to conservative "logic," it was okay for Trump to phone his master because of "tradition and diplomacy." Funny that Trump hasn't released his tax returns, which has become a presidential tradition. Hilarious that Trump denigrates other countries and their leaders but that isn't very diplomatic.

So, exactly what "tradition and diplomacy" are Trump following? Oh, that's right, when a Trumpophile wants to justify Trump's idiotic actions, they pull out whatever they want, even if they pulled out the exact opposite to do so yesterday.

As required, not matter how utterly tone-deaf, incompetent, or repugnant Trump's actions, the usual boot lickers run around the Internet practicing intellectual dishonesty to justify his actions.
