FUFA begins hunt for new Uganda Cranes coach

Cranes last substantive coach was Micho. He is now in South Africa

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Uganda has started the hunt for a foreign coach to handle the national soccer team Cranes.

Edgar Watson, the CEO of soccer governing body FUFA, confirmed on Wednesday that the search is on and they have sought the assistance of Zambian soccer legend Kalusha Bwalya to vet the candidates. Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications to email vacancy@fufa.co.ug between October 23-29.

Moses Basena was appointed on an interim basis to handle Cranes after Serbian Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevich quit in a pay dispute in July.

Since his departure, the Cranes has won a CHAN game against Rwanda, beat Egypt at home, but a loss away and draw with Ghana so them fall out of the race for World Cup 2018 qualification with a game to go.

Micho led Uganda Cranes to their first Nations Cup finals in 38 years. Cranes managed one draw in their first apperance since 1978.
