'Where is the urgency?': MSNBC reporter rips White House official for untruths about shutdown

MSNBC reporter and White House correspondent Kristen Welker pinned White House spokesman Marc Short down on his attempt to blame the Democrats' "tempter tantrum" for the shutdown of the federal government.

Welker recalled President Donald Trump's words from the last shutdown in 2013.

"Problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top," Trump said. "The president's the leader. He needs to get everybody in a room and he's got to lead."

"Why isn't he getting everybody together in a room today, Marc?" Welker asked.

Short -- the White House's director of legislative affairs -- said that Trump met with the Democrats last week.

"That was a week ago," Welker said. "Why is there a shutdown today?"

"Where is the urgency at the White House?" she asked.
