Isaac Asiamah

Mr. Isaac Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS), has said work will soon commence on the construction of ten multi-purpose youth centers, with sporting facilities, across the country to facilitate nurturing of sporting talents and ensure sports development in Ghana.

In an interview with the media, Mr. Asiamah noted that the ministry through the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government was keen on developing sports infrastructure and nurturing talents, which would raise the flag of Ghana high locally and internationally.

“We are in consultation with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE’s) to ensure that we have enough space for sports development.

“We would start with one in each region. Each region would have a decent pitch, ICT office and a counseling office to cater for the youth, he stated.

According to Mr. Asiamah the ministry is committed to promoting grass root sports development saying “I know if we are able to see it through, the future of Ghana sports would be developed and a legacy would have been left for Ghana”.

The ultra-modern youth centers would have not less than 5,000 seating capacity according to the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua constituency and would house over 15 sporting disciplines.
