MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Karen Riordan is the new President and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC). The announcement was made during a press conference Tuesday.

Riordan comes to Myrtle Beach by way of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance, where she served as President and CEO for four years. According to her biography, Riordan has led marketing programs for brands in tourism, including The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Royal Caribbean International, Amtrak, Choice Hotels International and Celebrity Cruises.

"As you get to know me i have a very distinct philosophy about chamber," said Riordan at Tuesday's press conference. "We are here to do good. To bring people together not divide them."

Riordan will assume the position on August 20.

Former MBACC President and CEO Brad Dean resigned in March. Dean served as president and CEO of the MBACC since 2003. Dean left MBACC to assume the role of CEO of the Puerto Rico Destination Marketing Organization.
