Real Madrid will secure deal for Robert Lewandowski this summer if they cannot prise Harry Kane away from Tottenham, insists former club president Ramon Calderon

  • Real Madrid will be in the market for a new centre forward this summerĀ
  • The Spanish giants have been long-term admirers of Tottenham's Harry KaneĀ
  • Former President Ramon Calderon says Robert Lewandowski is also a targetĀ

One of Robert Lewandowski or Harry Kane will end up at Real Madrid this summer, according to their former president.

And Ramon Calderon believes we are more likely to see the Poland international don the famous white kit, due to Daniel Levy's notorious hardball tactics when it comes to negotiating.Ā

However, he insists that will not stop the Spanish giants from testing Tottenham's resolve this summer.Ā Ā

'The objective for Real Madrid, no doubt, is Kane,' Calderon toldĀ the Sun.Ā

'If they want a player for the next five or six years they are going to go for Kane but [Spurs chairman Daniel] Levy is going to ask a fortune for him.

'As far as I know, Tottenham is not willing to let him go but Bayern also say Lewandowski is not going anywhere.

'[Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge has said he can bet that he will be in Bayern next season but we have heard that so many times, and in my experience it is the player who has the final decision of where to go.'

Lewandowski will get an early taste of the Santiago Bernabeu next Tuesday, when Bayern Munich visit Real Madrid for the second leg of their Champions League tie.

The Pole insists that the tie is the only thing on his mind at the moment, and he even played down the possibility of a summer move in a recent interview.Ā Ā

'Am I thinking about Real in terms of a transfer? No, not at all,' he said.

'For now, I am not thinking about it. The season isn't over.Ā We're focusing on what is now.Ā If you want to win the Champions League, you have to beat the best.

'It will definitely be a tough fight. But I hope that we'll play our brand of soccer and will be the better team.'Ā
